OUR FIXED INCOME PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

Romano Brothers & Co. is an active participant in all sectors of the U.S. bond market, including treasury, corporate, government agency, and municipal bonds. We also offer certificates of deposit, which are FDIC insured up to $100,000 per depositor.

  • We use only high quality, investment grade bonds to preserve capital and generate income. We are not active in lower grade or "junk" bond issues, as we feel that the risk/reward ratio does not warrant investment. Instead, we encourage clients tolerant of such risk levels to consider the equity markets, where we feel returns can be higher per given unit of risk.

  • We create diversified bond portfolios using individual bonds, rather than bond funds, and prefer to hold those bonds to maturity.

  • In this manner, a client may redeem a given bond at its face value, and can generally disregard fluctuations in value based upon changes in interest rates.

  • We employ "laddered" strategies, where bonds are purchased with annual maturities so frequent reinvestments can be made at the current market rate. This strategy tends to average out the effects of interest rate risk over the long term.

  • We can calculate the estimated income from a bond portfolio and pay equal installments to a client each month, so they can budget accordingly. Our clients often find this a valuable service.

We do our own fixed income research, and are part of the national network of municipal bond dealers, actively bidding, buying, and selling bonds both for client use and as a supplier to brokerage firms which are not part of the national network. Since there is no intermediary, we can purchase bonds directly and often offer them at higher yields to our clients.
